CAR SERVICE MA: GET YOUR CAR READY FOR SUMMER

CAR SERVICE MA: GET YOUR CAR READY FOR SUMMER

Summer is rapidly approaching. Is your car ready? We talk a lot about servicing your car to get it ready for winter, but summer has its own maintenance needs, too. If you haven’t gotten a car service in MA to prepare for summer, Ray’s Auto Service is the place to call.

HERE ARE A FEW MAINTENANCE CHECKS YOU SHOULD DO AS PART OF YOUR CAR SERVICE IN MA TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE READY FOR SUMMER.

COOLANT SYSTEM CHECK

As it warms up outside, it’s important to ensure that your engine’s cooling system is operating properly. You don’t want to get stuck on the side of the road on a sweltering day because your engine overheated. There are a lot of parts that comprise the cooling system including hoses, thermostat, radiator, and water pump. An average driver may not be able to tell if there is something wrong with the coolant system, so it’s best to have it checked out by a mechanic.

AIR CONDITIONING TEST

You need your engine to stay cool, but you need to stay cool, too! If you’ve ever driven on a hot day with no air conditioning, you know it’s not fun. Rolling down the windows only does so much, especially if you’re stuck sitting in traffic. Test out your AC by simply turning it on to see if cold air comes out. If you only get hot air, a Freon charge is usually enough to get it working again. If that doesn’t fix it, however, you may be looking at a more expensive repair.

OIL AND FILTER CHANGE

So we know that everything you’ve ever read about car maintenance says that you should change your oil regularly. But there’s a reason for that! Oil lubricates your engine and protects it from everyday wear and tear that happens from just driving around. If you haven’t had your oil changed in a while, now is as good a time as any while you’re getting your other systems checked for summer.

NEW WIPER BLADES

This one might seem like something of an afterthought, but if you’ve even been caught in a sudden downpour, you’ll be grateful that you have good wiper blades. Ice, snow, and extreme cold during the winter can nick and crack the rubber blades. So you’ll probably need new ones by summer. You can ask your mechanic to do it for you while they’re working on your car. Or you can pick up new blades at any auto parts store and change them yourself.
